The instantly recognisable dark navy blue lip enamel mug has long been a staple throughout the Pacific, revered for its resilience, telling stories through every chip and scratch.
Iconic for its widespread use amongst the working class since their introduction after World War 2, these mugs invoke fond memories and recollections for a lot of the Moana Pasifika diaspora around the world.
In Samoan, the word ‘tautua’ means "to serve," highlighting our duties to humbly serve our families and communities.
In an age of constant digital distractions and escalating world change, this mug aims to invoke gratitude every time it is seen or used, reminding us of who and why we serve.

All mug prints are individually hand assembled; In a fast-changing world of artificial intelligence and technology, this mug brand deliberately overlooks typical automated mass production methods, opting to instead integrate the latest UV DTF print technology with traditional handmade production techniques still used in the islands today

Most enamel mugs used for customisation in NZ & AUS feature a silver lip (amongst other colours) which just isn’t the same as the iconic navy blue lip.

Most locally sourced classic navy blue lip mugs are not treated for heat press sublimation methods. Tautua mugs instead utilise UV DTF prints.

Most locally sourced navy blue lip mugs are of the very small standard 350 ml size, and require constant refilling. Tautua mugs are considerably larger with its 670 ml capacity.
- Although these mugs are dishwasher proof as they do feature the latest form of UV DTF prints, we do however recommend hand-washing for more holistic reasons; in addition to any vision board, diary, prayer, meditation or positive affirmation practise that you use for gratitude, it is recommended that you take a half minute out of your day to consciously hand wash this mug, and take a moment to reflect upon all that you are grateful for, and be renewed in all that you are inspired by, working hard and fighting for.
